José Capellán (left-handed pitcher)

José M. Capellán (born July 18, 1986 in San Francisco de Macoris, Dominican Republic) is a left-handed Minor League Baseball pitcher in the Boston Red Sox organization.

In July 2003, he was signed by the Red Sox as an international free agent and played for the Dominican Summer League Red Sox from to He played in the Boston Red Sox organization from to . In 2006 with the GCL Red Sox, he appeared in 11 games, starting six of them. He posted a 2.81 ERA and a 5-1 record. In 2007, with the Lowell Spinners, he posted a 4-3 record in 14 games started. His ERA was 3.69.

As of June 21, 2008, in the minors, he has posted a 9-4 record with a 3.56 ERA in 28 games, 23 of which he started.

In December 2007, the San Francisco Giants picked Capellán in the Rule 5 draft, but placed him on waivers in March. Capellán was then acquired by the Cincinnati Reds, who returned him to the Red Sox two weeks later.
