Johnny mains

Johnny Mains (born 1976, Galashiels, Roxburghshire) is a Scottish editor and writer of horror fiction.

Biography

Mains' first short story The Spoon appeared in The Third Black Book of Horror Stories and featured popular spoon bender Uri Geller. This was followed by With Deepest Sympathy in The Fourth Black Book of Horror Stories which received favourable reviews.

Back From the Dead

Mains is a life-long fan of The Pan Book of Horror Stories and has created a fan site for the 30 book series. This in turn has led him to release his first anthology as editor, Back From the Dead: The Legacy of the Pan Book of Horror Stories, which feature 16 new stories and five reprints from the original series. Authors such as Basil Copper , Christopher Fowler , John Burke appear and Mains has included a mini biography of the Pan Horrors' original editor Herbert van Thal. The book will be released through Mains' Noose and Gibbet imprint in March 2010.

The Paperback Fanatic

Mains is a regular contributor to The Paperback Fanatic a magazine devoted to pulp paperbacks run by Justin Marriot. His InterViews have included:

SFX

Mains wrote a four page article for the SFX Horror Special (Feb 2010) which dealt with the history of The Pan Book of Horror Stories , the first time the books have been appraised in a mainstream magazine since the early 90's.

The Pan Book of Horror Stories

Mains was recently appointed Project Editor for the re-issue of the 1959 Pan Book of Horror Stories. The book will be published, with a new introduction in October 2010.

Mains is currently working on the complete collected works of Mary Danby and Back from the Dead 2.
