in Barcelona and Warsaw.

History

Founding

Felipe Navio and Juan Urdiales were independently working on similar IDeaS but jointly launched jobandtalent after being introduced by mutual friends; thus, experiencing the importance of personal contacts first-hand. Urdiales previously co-founded a successful, national award winning textile enterprise called Pluscuamperfecta. Navio worked at consulting firm McKinsey and social networking site Tuenti, obtaining these positions through referrals of friends who were already working for these companies. These experiences gave the new friends the idea to start jobandtalent: “The real 20-30 friends you would ask for a recommendation are on Facebook, not LinkedIn” Navio explained, adding “the most powerful professional connections you have are on Facebook."

Navio and Urdiales believed that the recruitment industry had not seen significant change in 10 years so they created jobandtalent to better establish relationships between candidates and companies. jobandtalent's goal is for its users to utilise personal connections in a similar manner. jobandtalent also aims to lessen youth unemployment (workers under 25-years-old), which is currently over 50% in Spain. It targets candidates with 0 to 10 years of work experience.

Expansion

In October 2011, jobandtalent opened a new office in Barcelona.

In January 2012, jobandtalent opened an office in London, its first international expansion.

The company is currently raising funds to expand into Germany and throughout Europe. It also has plans to expand to Latin America.

How it Works

Getting Started

Users register for jobandtalent accounts by connecting with their Facebook accounts. Users can manually enter professional information (including education and work experience) or they can import it from their LinkedIn accounts. Users are notified when a job posting matches their profile, when companies view their CV, and when the final hiring decision is made; offering candidates greater transparency in the hiring process. Users can also share job openings via Facebook and recommend friends during the selection process. Companies can see candidates' professional profiles and their "social profiles," consisting of connections that candidates have with company employees and referrals. Candidates are matched with companies based on these two profiles.

Rankings

Since 2010, jobandtalent has ranked companies based on where young employees most want to work. Deloitte, KPMG, and Ernst & Young were the top 3 companies for 2011. The data includes overall rankings and rankings based on geography, gender, sector, and specialty.

Privacy

When employers have access to candidates' social media profiles, some consider it an invasion of personal privacy, especially when hiring managers request candidates' passwords to their social media accounts. Employers using jobandtalent do not have access to candidates' private photographs or personal (protected) information such as status updates. They only have access to candidates' professional profiles and social profiles to avoid putting candidates' private information at risk.
