Jason Cooper (baseball)
Jason M. Cooper (born December 6, 1980, in Richland, Washington), is an American professional baseball player.
Cooper attended Moses Lake High School (Moses Lake, Washington. He was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in the second round of the 1999 Major League Baseball Draft, but opted to attend Stanford University instead. Cooper was named a Pacific-10 Conference All-Star in .
He was drafted by the Cleveland Indians in the third round (82nd overall) of the 2002 Major League Baseball Draft. He made his professional debut with the Class-A Columbus RedStixx. In , he played for the Lake County Captains and Kinston Indians. In 2004 and 2005, Cooper split time between the Double-A Akron Aeros and Triple-A Buffalo Bisons. He spent all of , and with the Bisons.
Cooper is the modern-era leader in games played for the Bisons. When the Bisons changed affiliation to the New York Mets in the 2008-09 offseason, the Mets signed Cooper to a contract, to keep the fan-favorite with the Bisons for .
