James Mendrinos
James (Jim) Mendrinos is a comedian/actor/author/ writer living in New York City.
Jim started as a comedian in New York City where he shared the stage with acts such as Colin Quinn, Sam Kinison and Chris Rock. He has been a force on the stand up comedy circuit for over 2 decades. He was one of the executive producers of the New York City Underground Comedy Festival as well. He currently performs around the world entertaining troops for Armed Forces Entertainment.
Jim has also written for Television, having penned jokes and scripts for NBC, the USA network, and Fox just to name a few. He is the former show runner for Thunderbox, a live event sports entertainment show where he also directed segments.
Jim also penned the Alpha Books 2004 release, The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Comedy Writing, which is considered one of the definitive books on comedy writing. Throughout the beginning of the new mellineum Jim was active in New Media, having worked for AOL Comedy, Comedynet, and ultimately founding his own company, New Media Comedy, LLC with partners John P. Rigores.
Many shows were produced and developed for streaming content and home distribution ny New Media Comedy, LLC. In 2013, the company turned their sights again to television with the release of Living In Exile, a former web series that was Picked up for Television.
Living In Exile marks Jim’s return to TV in a big way. As a producer, director, cast member, sole writer, composer and show runner. Jim and the rest of the cast of talented funny people are currently being broadcast on Launch TV – and they have been picked up for a 2nd season.
Currently the company has joined forces with Laura Lee Botsacos and Soaring Eagle Girl productions, and are also developing the series “Launch The Funny” for Launch TV in 2015.
In addition to all this, Jim is an actor who has been seen on the 2013 release Scavenger Killers, and a playwright with over 60 NYC productions. “In Her Wake” which ran Off-Broadway in 2013 is being developed for the screen with Jim Mendrinos set to direct, and his 10 minute play “In The Family” remains one of the most controversial and recognized plays due to its strong and jarring message about domestic violence.
