James Brighouse (musician)
James Brighouse (born 25 November 1980) is a British musician. Brighouse is a founding member of the UK rock band Blame. Brighouse plays guitar and is one of the group’s main songwriters. Brighouse received a graduate degree from University of Derby & University of Utah. He attended Thomas Alleyne’s High School, Uttoxeter, Staffordshire. In various interviews and articles Brighouse has disclosed that his main influences include The Replacements, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Counting Crows, Nirvana & The Hold Steady.

Early Music Career
Tobias (2001-2005): Formerly known as One Point Twenty One (‘Onepointwentyone’) Tobias was a midlands based alternative rock band. Brighouse played guitar and contributed largely to the group’s song writing; a mixture of post hard core and traditional hard rock, Tobias released an EP titled Our Life In Mono. The EP had limited local release. In October 2005 Tobias completed the unreleased album A Thousand Theories.
Victory State (2006): In 2005, Brighouse joined forces with current Blame band mate Craig Bunting, along with two friends, Harry Nesbitt and Matt Titterton. The group released an EP titled Kick Bag the Rug and Everybody Dance. Victory State combined post hardcore melodies and traditional rock n roll. The EP came out to mostly favourable reviews.
Ortega (2006-2008): In 2006 Brighouse joined Ortega alongside former, Tobias band mate Toby Caffery. In 2007, former band mate Craig Bunting also joined the group. Brighouse played guitar and contributed to the group’s song writing. Ortega released an EP titled, Times are Changing and an album, Conversations. Conversations received mostly strong reviews.
In Colour (2008-2009): In 2008 Brighouse joined Andy Radford (brother of his fiancée), Robin Caffery, Matthew Lee and Alistair Vickers and formed the pop-rock band In Colour. The group released a self-titled EP.
Blame (2011–present):
Along with vocalist, guitarist Samuel Johnson, Brighouse is a prominent song writer for Blame. In November 2012 the band released the debut album Gracious Malady. Along with its singles, Floods and Outsiders, album Gracious Malady charted upon release. Blame saw Brighouse reunite with former band mates, Craig Bunting, Toby Caffery and Anthony Weaver.
