Jamak Fabrication
Jamak Fabrication is a manufacturing company specializing in silicone rubber solutions and other elastomer based products. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of JMK International, and was created in 1971 through the merger of several silicone and organic rubber fabricators.
The corporate offices of Jamak are located Fort Worth, Texas and Weatherford, Texas. Jamak has a silicone fabrication plant in Weatherford, Texas, as well as plants in Manchester, England (JFE) and Dongguan City, China (JEI MEI).
History
- 1968 â Detroit Silicones founded in Michigan
- 1973 - Operations move to Texas and begin manufacturing as Jamak Fabrication.
- 1984 - Jamak purchases Silicone Fabrications, Ltd. (now Jamak Fabrication Europe).
- 1987 - Jamak compounding divisions sold to Dow Corning, integrated into Dow STI
- 1988 - Jamak opens L.C. Klenk Center for Design, Development and Testing.
- 1999 - Additional . added to US facility 1
- 2004 - Jei Mei China facility opened.
Products
Jamak is involved with the automotive aftermarket for windshield wipers. Their main product is the Tripledge, a silicone-based wiper that is predominately sold through Wal-Mart. Tripledge is noted for its success in direct response TV promotion during the 90's. It was a failing product before the aggressive marketing campaign made the company millions, then settled into retail sales.2
Medical-grade silicone is the basis for most of the medical components Jamak produces. This includes catheters, drainage tubes, handles for surgical instruments, seals and gaskets, valves, and suction tips. 3 It is also used in the cow milking process, as they produce dairy inflations and milk tubing. 4
Other products include silicone wine enclosures, a boat trailer accessory called Launch N Load, and silicone bakeware.
