Bühler Motor, headquartered in Nuremberg, Germany, is an independent, globally active company focused on the development, production and marketing of technologically challenging mechatronic drive solutions.

With approx. 1200 employees at eight locations on three continents (Europe, USA, Asia) Buehler Motor is a leading supplier of motors and pumps. Strategic markets are the automotive industry (e.g. the drivetrain area, engine and passenger compartments, interior), the aviation industry (aircraft seat adjustment systems) and general industries (e.g. medical technology, vending machines, paper handling, building automation systems).

Bühler Motor is certified for its quality management system under ISO/TS 16949:2002 and for its environmental management system under DIN EN ISO 14001:2004.

History

1855 Company founded (clock manufacturer) by the brothers Adolf and Karl Heinrich Bühler in Triberg/Black Forest.
1892 Company purchased (MBO) by the great grandfather of current partner, Josef Furtwängler (1862 – 1926). Company renamed “Gebrüder Bühler Nachfolger”.
1925 Moved production of drive technology to Nuremberg under the trade name “Gebrüder Bühler NachfolgerGmbH”.
1954 Start of electric motor production in Nuremberg.
1960 Opened new factory in Monheim, Bavaria.
1969 First automotive applications for Delco Electronics, USA.
1974 Opened Buehler Motor Inc., USA in Kinston, N.C.
1983 Headquarters, development center and second production site for USA opened in Cary, N.C.
1994 Start of production at Buehler Motor s.r.o. in Hradec Králové, Czech Republic.
1996 Built new plant in Czech Republic, expansions in 1998 and 2001.
1998 Change of the trade name from „Gebrüder Bühler Nachfolger GmbH“ to „Bühler Motor GmbH“.
1998 Opened subsidiary in Hong Kong with production site in Hui Zhou, China.
2002 Opened production plant for motors and gear motors in Chihuahua, Mexico.
2003 Production moved from Kinston, USA to Mexico.
2006 Acquired AMTL UK from the Dana Corp. and opened the development site Buehler Motor UK Ltd. in Andover. Built and opened Buehler Motor Zhuhai Ltd., PR China.
