ITU-T Recommendation Y.17tom

ITU-T Recommendation Y.17tom specifies the mechanisms required to operate and maintain the network and service aspects of the Transport MPLS (T-MPLS) layer network. It also specifies the T-MPLS OA&M frame formats, syntax and semantics of T-MPLS OA&M frame fields. The T-MPLS OAM mechanisms as described in this Recommendation apply to both point-to-point T-MPLS connections and point-to-multipoint T-MPLS connections.

The T-MPLS OA&M mechanisms as described in this Recommendation are applicable to any environment where the T-MPLS layer(s) is(are) managed using Network Management Systems and/or Operational Support Systems.

The architectural basis for this Recommendation is the T-MPLS architectural specification G.8110.1.

The OA&M functions of the server layer network used by the T-MPLS layer network are not within the scope of this Recommendation. The OA&M functions of the client layer network(s) of the T-MPLS layer network are not within the scope of this Recommendation either. It is noted that this Recommendation does not address the administration aspects of OA&M.
