Inter County Office Furniture

Inter County Office Furniture are a manufacturer and supplier of office furniture based in the Hertfordshire town of Letchworth, in the UK. They have manufactured and sold tens of thousands of items such as desks, chairs and cupboards, and their items can be found in offices right across the country. The desks are easily identifiable by the "Phase" logo found on the cable ports on all their desks. Other items are less distinctive, though if you have visited more than a few offices the chances are you will have sat on a chair manufactured by the company. Most items are sold through the company's 64-page catalogue, which is printed quarterly and sent to businesses and public sector offices all over the UK. In 2006 intercounty.com began selling it's furniture over the internet.

1986-1988

Founded as a family partnership in 1986, the business started out as a supplier of office furniture, sourcing products from manufacturers. From it's conception the business was extremely successful, something which the company has put down to 'a commitment to quality of service'. The company took step from the beginning of delivering it's own furniture, using it's own fleet of drivers. This is a practice which continues to this day.

1989-1994

In 1989 the decision was made to move manufacturing in house. The company invested in state of the art computer controlled machinery, and began manufacturing their own desking and storage products. This was done, the company claims, to 'effectively manage the quality of product', and they backed up this statement with an 8-year guarantee.

1994-2007

Today Inter County occupies 3 premises. A board processing plant, a finishing and seating manufacture plant, and the Inter County warehouse. It is claimed on the company website that they hold STOCK valued in excess of £2.5 million.
