Independent Photo Imagers
Independent Photo Imagers is a buying group for photo service specialty retailers. Independent Photo Imagers is also known by the acronym IPI1. Over 550 business owners who operate 725 storefront locations are members of IPI. IPI member stores are located in each of The 50 United States and the District of Columbia, Mexico, Canada, Australia, and South Africa. IPI members operate image capture, output and archiving businesses. The Independent Photo Imagers buying group was founded in 1982 in Southern California. IPI is governed by a nine member Board of Directors and managed by a four member administrative staff. Many of the members of IPI are also members of other photo industry associations such as the Photo Marketing Association. IPI members STOCK a mix of goods, and also offer services that are sold to consumers, businesses, and government entities. IPI member companies can be providers of digital consumer, commercial and professional photo finishing; providers of large format and fine-art printing, providers of portrait and on-location and event photography services such as sports, school, dance, church, reunion, wedding and other events; retailers of camera and other photo-related goods and services; providers of photo gifting, framing, creative archiving, and memory display services and products; or providers of photo restoration, image scanning, image storage and Long term image archiving solutions and services. IPI provides its members with purchasing and expense management, cyber and face-to-face meetings, and educational opportunities.
In 2009, Independent Photo Imagers became a supporter of the 6Sight 2009 Future of Imaging Conference2. This is an annual conference and will be held in 2009 from November 10-12 at the Conference Center in Monterey, California.
