Inch Polo Festival

The 2008 Inch Polo Festival, organised by Fun Ireland takes place next year in June )dates have yet to be finalised) on Inch Strand, on the Dingle Peninsula in County Kerry on the West coast of Ireland. Polo teams from around the world are invited, including teams from South Africa, Germany, Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

The ball rolls further and faster than grass and it is possible to run six full length fields - end to end - simultaneously. This means that there is a four hour window around low tide to play the matches. Excellent viewing is available from the sand dunes and ponies can be washed off in the sea after matches.

Needless to say the festivities after each day's matches involve keen support of the many pubs and bars that give the Dingle Peninsula its unique reputation for traditional Irish hospitality.
