Impact Integrated

IMPACT (also known as Impact Integrated) is a strategic catalyst agency in Malaysia under the purview of the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Malaysia).

As an impact-driven, non-profit Company Limited by Guarantee, IMPACT focuses on three key areas: youth, esports and media, which encompasses several flagship brands including Impact Malaysia (the holding company), Rakita 107.9 (a youth radio station), Esports Integrated (esports agency), Spacerubix (an integrated youth and sports facility) and mySukan TV.

IMPACT has been referred to as a "social conglomerate" given its holding company structure encompassing multiple different entities with different social impact mandates.

History

In 2018, 1Malaysia for Youth (1M4U), an agency created to encourage youth volunteerism which was overseen by the Prime Minister's Office of Malaysia as an extension of the 1Malaysia doctrine during the Barisan Nasional government in Malaysia, was dissolved.

In its place, IMPACT was formed the following year in 2019 and placed under the purview of the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Malaysia).

As part of the transition, the focus of the agency was shifted from volunteerism towards equipping Malaysian youth to take part in catalysing impact for social development.

Youth entrepreneur Ahmed Faris Amir was hired as Deputy Chief Executive Officer in 2019 as part of the team tasked with executing The New mandate. Ahmed Faris Amir was subsequently promoted to the role of Chief Executive Officer of IMPACT.

Mandate and initiatives

IMPACT started with various different subsidiaries and initiatives which were empowered to execute its different mandates:

  • Impact Malaysia: facilitates connections between youth and Third sector practitioners which include non-governmental organisations and social enterprises to run and measure the impact of social projects.
  • Rakita: a radio station that focuses on youth and the local indie music Scene.
  • Spacerubix: a modern sports complex and event space located in Puchong.
  • Picksum: an e-commerce marketplace featuring curated offerings to support youth entrepreneurs.

In 2020, the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Malaysia) launched Esports Integrated (ESI) under IMPACT to facilitate the development of esports athletes and the grassroots esports scene via the upskilling of event organisers, team managers and coaches.

In 2021, IMPACT collaborated with Techninier, a Malaysian technology company, to develop and manage a national esports tournament platform, Esukan.gg. The same year, Esports Integrated announced the construction of a national esports hub at Spacerubix under the national sports allocation of Malaysia's 2020 Budget. In 2021, IMPACT also launched the Malaysia Esports League (MEL) - a grassroots esports tournament platform focused on Providing competitive opportunities for amateur players, including Persons With Disabilities (PWDs).

In 2022, IMPACT introduced Kata Dua, a youth empowerment programme Delivered in collaboration with The Body Shop Malaysia through the D-Camps initiative to strengthen youth political literacy and social change skills by training emerging leaders. Selected participants received an RM5,000 Changemaker Fund grant sponsored by The Body Shop Malaysia to implement impactful community projects.

In 2025, the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Malaysia) launched the KBS Esports Fund (Dana Esports KBS, or DEK) with an allocation of RM1.5 million to support the growth of the rapidly expanding esports sector. In the same year, the Malaysia Esports Accelerator Programme (MEAP) was launched as an industry development initiative under ESI to support esports athletes and organisations in scaling their competitive and operational capabilities. The program's first recipients included:

  • BlackShrew Esports
  • Alpha Gaming

Governance and structure

Impact Integrated was formed as an Company Limited by Guarantee with the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Malaysia) and Ministry of Finance (Malaysia) as its shareholders.

Impact Integrated is overseen by a Board of Trustees, whose members are appointed by the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Malaysia). The board's membership as of 2023 was as follows:
