Ibad Rehman
Ibad Rehman (Urdu: عباد رحمان) (Birth date: July 27, 1964; Place:Karachi, Pakistan) is the Patron of Muttahida Quami Movement(MQM) in USA. He is currently serving MQM to guide new workers and new officials to work under the constitution of the party execution of policies and to manage the local administration.
Education
He completed his early schooling from Delhi School, Karachi and joined S M Arts College. He obtained his first law degree from S M Law college. He left the country in 1989 and went to Manila, where he completed his Masters degree in Law. Moreover, he obtained two other degrees, one in international business management and other an M.B.A from the Academy of Business and Economics in Manila. He attained a degree in Law from Howard University and presently he is associated with a local firm.
Political involvement
He started his political career during his early student life in Pakistan. He was the first organizer of the MQM Philippines unit. He returned to Pakistan in 1991 and stayed in Pakistan till 1993. During this time he was deputed to MQM Legal aid committee, North Nazimabad sector committee and eventually promoted to central cabinet of the MQM Labor Division. During the same period of time He also got elected as a senator to the University of Karachi syndicate. Due to the operation cleanup launched against MQM he left for America in 1993 where he joined a local law firm while pursuing his higher education as well.
He is currently executing many responsibilities given by Altaf Hussain founder and leader of MQM and also by the central coordination committee of the MQM including his representation to the United Nations in Geneva, representing MQM during high level meetings at the White House, the State department and other top institutions, meeting with foreign delegations including some head of the States, etc.
On December 27, 2009 The Patron-in-Chief MQM North America Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui has announced the addition responsibilities for the Patron MQM USA Ibad Rehman. The Patron MQM USA was also given the responsibilities of Patron MQM Canada forthwith.
Patron MQM USA and Canada Ibad Rehman reorganized the MQM Canada. While announcing the dissolution of the setup, he paid hearty tributes to the former office-bearers of MQM Canada. He mentioned that the untiring efforts of these people have made it possible to spread the message of MQM.
When he was interviewed by a Pakistani TV channel about the MQM's involvement in making Karachi more violent, he answered and described that this propaganda is always used to decrease the increasing popularity of MQM in 98% middle and lower middle class Pakistanis.
In the year 2006 when a Pakistani citizen Shehrezad Faruk Czar, in Oakland was indicted on charges that he falsely claimed degrees from the University of Berkley, an online correspondence school, in an attempt to secure a visa from the U.S. Assistant U.S. Attorney Lewis Davis said Czar knew Altaf Hussain, the head of the MQM, which Davis described as a [...] outfit. When the federal prosecutors called MQM a "recognized international [...] organization" Mr. Ibad Reman (Virginia Attorney) outside court represented the MQM and strongly responded to the false allegation against MQM. Mr Ibad denied that the organization knew of Czar or had anything to do with [...].
