Pakhtun Loya Jirga

Pakhtun Loya Jirga () is a political assembly representing Pakhtuns in Pakistan. The Pakhtun Loya Jirga is actively involved in representing the rights of the Pakhtuns living in Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan. Shahi Sayed is the chairman of Pakhtun Loya Jirga and a member of the Senate of Pakistan from Orangi Town in Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan.

Loya Jirga is a "grand assembly," a phrase in the Pashto meaning "grand council." A loya jirga is a mass meeting usually prepared for major events such as choosing a new King, adopting a constitution, or discussing important national political or emergency matters as well as disputes in the Pashtun areas of Afghanistan and Pakistan. In Afghanistan, the loya jirga was originally attended the Pashtuns, but later included other ethnic groups. It is a forum unique among the Pashtun tribes of Afghanistan and Pakistan in which, traditionally, tribal elders meet together.

The words loya (great/grand) and jirga ("council", "assembly", "dispute" or "meeting") are of Pashto origin. The word Jirga is the one of primary concept of Afghan law, Afghanwali or famously known as Pashtunwali. Pukhtoonwali or Pashtunwali is the code of ethics of the Pashtuns, the Jirga their Parliament or National Assembly and intrepidity and frankness an essential trait of their character.

Shahi Sayed is the provincial president of the Awami National Party's Sindh chapter. Shahi Sayed owned CNG gas stations in Karachi before becoming involved in politics. Shahi Syed has been accused of being part of Land Mafia and Transport Mafia in Karachi. Some areas in Karachi has been illegally encroached and settled by refugees fleeing from war in Afghanistan and Taliban conflict in northern Pakistan. Predominantly these refugees are Pakhtuns and they are supported Pakhtun Action Committee and Pakhtun Loya Jirga under the leadership of Shahi Syed to build shanty towns in illegally occupied land. Shahi Sayed has been occused of ordering murders of his opponents and starting riots in Karachi.
