Groenewout Consultants & Engineers is a logistics company based in Breda, The Netherlands. They operate throughout Europe, North America, Middle East and Africa.
History
In 1966: Founding of “Bureau voor Projectontwikkeling en Planning Groenewout NV” by Cornelius Groenewout. Services: Advice and design of technical installations.
In 1970: Merger with Construction Engineering firm “Brabo”, resulting in “Constructie- en Installatietechniek Brabo-Groenewout BV”.
In 1970: Founding of “Technoconsult NV”, a subsidiary office in Antwerp Belgium. Services are extended with advice and design of technical installations and constructions (steel and/or concrete).
In 1972: Extension of services with advice and design of Sprinkler installations.
In 1974: “Ingenieursbureau Brabo-Groenewout BV”. Extension of services with Architectural and Civil advice and design.
In 1976: Founding of subsidiaries in
- Terneuzen, the Netherlands
- Lagos, Nigeria
- Quito, Ecuador
In 1980: New company name “Architecten- en Ingenieursbureau Brabo-Groenewout BV”. Reason of name change is to better express the service-package and improve market positioning. Moreover, to concentrate on the business in Europe and the US, the subsidiaries in Nigeria and Ecuador were closed.
In 1986: “Ingenieursbureau Groenewout BV”. The enormous growth of the company and the wide range of services rendered, made it necessary to split the firm into two individual companies:
- “Brabo-Rienks”: Architectenbureau
- “Ingenieursbureau Groenewout BV”: Logistics and Facilities. Core business was design logistic processes and installations including the surrounding facilities and infrastructure. The subsidiary in Terneuzen was closed and incorporated in the Breda office.
In 1990: Introduction of simulation techniques to optimize logistic designs or to improve manufacturing installations.
In 1991: Starting of the department Facilities Management.
In 1993: Integration of the Antwerp subsidiary into the head office in Breda.
In 1994: Retirement of Cor Groenewout. Cor Groenewout was for his work and effort appointed “Ridder in de Orde van Oranje Nassau”
In 1995: Groenewout Consultants & Engineers. The new management continued to further develop what Cor Groenewout had built. Engineering became more and more consulting; The new company’s name was adapted to the new situation.
From 1995 to 2000: Development of software tools for logistic design.
In 2002: The development of a Quality Management System was completed. and certified according ISO 9001 by Lloyd’s.
In 2008: Management Buy Out with shareholders Alain Beerens, Wendel Dijker, Arthur Zondervan en Mari van Kuijk. Core business on support, implementation and project management of logistics and supply chains processes. The consulting scope stretches from the embedded organizations and processes within supply chain management, to designing logistics infrastructures inclusive of operational warehousing solutions and IT systems.
In 2010: Groenewout Consultants & Engineers takes over VC Factory in september 2010. VC Factory contributes its knowledge and experience in modeling and optimization of international distribution logistics, logistic collaboration concepts, transport issues and outsourcing projects.
The Managing Director of Groenewout is Mari van Kuijk. The members of the Management Team are Mari van Kuijk, Alain Beerens, Wendel Dijker and Arthur Zondervan.

2008: Supply Chain Partner of the Year Award. Supply Chain Partner of the Year
