God of a man
‘God of a man’ is an ongoing novel series being written by Fatal Urge Carefree Kiss. Set in the third parallel universe (the other two being the ones where ‘Mishiida Alexander’ series is happening, and our universe), it is the story about mankind that survives the Third World War, living initially in the cold climes of Antarctica, before finally moving back to Australian mainland, and eventually escaping a dying earth. It deals with strong politico-social-religious themes, and is a work that completely challenges the concept of God and Universe as humanity has so far known. The story starts with humanity that has lost all faith in God and become morally reprehensible, and then goes through the process of rediscovering faith, before humanity finally rests on ‘reason’. In stark contrast to ‘Mishiida Alexander’ which is a very light hearted and jovial series, this is a very dark space odyssey. Using the storylines of the ‘Infinity Confined’ and ‘Across Two Eternities’ books in the series, the author has now interwoven it with ‘Mishiida Alexander’ series, by showing the two parallel universes in physical collision. This has thus both explained the inconsistencies of timelines and events between the three universes, and also set in place the grounds for inter-series crossovers and cameos.
Plot summary:
The story starts in 2400s, and follows the travails of humanity that is the posterity of the survivors of a nuclear Third World War, living in Antarctica, who finally manage to move back to Australian mainland. The series then jumps by about forty years to a time where Earth is threatened by an unknown space anomaly and chunks of earth, people, and objects start disappearing. Initially thought to be a case of a new universe replacing the old universe, it is subsequently established that it is in fact a case of two universes colliding with each other. While the earth gets subsequently removed to the new universe, fatally damaged in the process and sunless, the story follows a lead group of humanity that travels across the two universes, using space anomalies as space gates, to finding a new home for humanity. The first story arc of the series ends with two of its main characters headed to make a cameo in ‘Mishiida Alexander’ series, while two others headed for their own spin-off story arc.
First book: God of a Man
It starts with humanity living in a pre-historic future and devoid of faith and morality, struggling to maintain a library of vast ancient knowledge, and forced to reproduce using artificial cloning since it cannot produce posterity naturally as radiation has caused it to lose natural reproductive ability. Humanity is almost about to end out of resources to clone itself before some random events create an opportunity for it to venture out into the sea and find habitable land outside Antarctica again. It eventually ends up moving back to Australian mainland, regains its lost reproductive abilities, and temporarily re-discovers faith in God and morality.
Second book: God of a Man - Eternity Versus Eternity
Set forty years after the events of the first book, it follows the story of two brothers, one of them an adopted child, and both army officers, as they struggle to bridge the gap that separates them. A series of unfortunate events unfold and a little understood space anomaly starts tearing the world apart, and a top secret contingency plan is approved by the president that entails secretly allowing a select group of highly talented humans to escape the world expected to perish, and start a new home for humanity elsewhere. However a rogue army officer, backed by some corrupt politicians, threatens to upstage the plan and use the spaceship being developed to save himself and his select few. The story ends with the family of the two brothers split apart and lost across two universes, and the fate of one of the leading men’s fiancée unknown.
Third book: God of a Man - Infinity Confined
As those on board the Spaceship ‘Maa’ struggle to come to terms with their new life and mission, they come in contact with first alien, a female Mishansa, who belongs to a species that can read minds of other living creatures whenever they think. They rescue her from being annihilated by a ferocious alien race of the other Universe, and have to prepare to save themselves from getting annihilated by the highly advance adversary, should they come in contact again. The eventful meeting finally takes place and Spaceship ‘Maa’ is nearly damaged beyond repair, while humanity barely survives with its’ skin intact. They take refuge on a planet lost in space just like their earth. Alexander from ‘Mishiida Alexander’ series makes a brief and uplifting cameo that links the two stories and parallel universes together.
Fourth book: God of a Man - Across Two Eternities
The story arc finally ends with humanity finding a new home, and then rediscovering their lost earth. The family split apart in GOMEVE is brought together again, although yet to be completely reunited physically, and the story ends with one leading couple headed to assist Alexander and Mishiida, thus hinting their cross-over, while another leading couple heads out into a direction of a mini spin-off.
