Gill Del-Mace

Gill Del-Mace (b1954 -) is a British born artist who has enjoyed worldwide success. Her father was an art teacher who became a travelling stunt man, taking his family round Britain and Europe. This early experience laid the grounding in circus art and theatrical themes.

Del-Mace specializes in Magic Realism drawing on unusual characters.

Her favoured medium is oil on canvas, however she is also well known for intricate life-like charcoal drawings.

Her meticulous technique of painstakingly blending with fine brushes on very large canvases, CREATES highly detailed works of intricate comlexity.

Although selected for an art scholarship as a teenager, her family emigrated to New Zealand.

Gill evolved as an artist half a world away from her influences but continued to develop her skills.

As a young woman she moved to San Francisco learning art restoration at the California Historical Society. During this period Gill started to exhibit work in a Geary Street Gallery.

She travelled widely throughout Europe furthering her knowledge of Magic Realism.

Back in New Zealand and then Australia she held her first solo exhibitions. She also successfully exhibited with the Simic Gallery, in Rodeo Drive, Los Angeles.

Del-Mace has completed numerous one person exhibitions, and has commissions in public and private collections around the world.

She now resides in Melbourne Australia.
