Frosty Stilwell

Frosty Stilwell

Frosty Stilwell (born on November 17, 1959 in Terre Haute, Indiana) is an American radio personality and musician. Frosty's real name is not widely known (his mother apparently "confirmed" that his name is LaRue Stilwell, something that Frosty has vehemently denied), but public records searches show his real name as Forrest A Stilwell.

Based in Los Angeles, he is part of the Frosty, Heidi & Frank Show, a talk radio show broadcast from their home station 97.1 Free FM (KLSX) and syndicated to 103.7 Free FM (KSCF) in San Diego and 101.5 Free FM (KZON) in Phoenix, Arizona. All three stations are owned by CBS Radio.

Additionally, the show is cybercast (see External Links below). The show airs weekdays from 10am to 3pm Pacific Standard Time, with the fifth hour of the block being a replay of the first hour.

History

Stilwell's radio career included on-air positions in Terre Haute, Milwaukee, Louisville, California, and Grand Rapids.

During the early 1980's at Terre Haute's WPFR-FM "Rock 103", later "FM 103", Frosty worked with Doc Long, Jim Davee, and others to hone his morning show antics, including ExLax-laced brownies, the ratings-driven "fake news" parachute jump (where Frosty broadcast "live from the plane" until he hit the ground conveniently before a week's vacation), the signature "BYE!" shouted at the end of the show, and the decidedly non-PC reading of a public service announcement for sufferers of Lupus while playing "Pop goes the Weasel" as background music. Despite rumors to the contrary, Frosty was not involved in the infamous "golden showers" weather forecast, although he wished he was.

In Denver, Stilwell joined with current partner Frank Kramer and Jamie White to form the Jamie, Frosty, & Frank Show. That trio had been Denver's highest rated talk show for a number of years, before bringing the show to Star 98.7 KYSR in Los Angeles in 1998.

On September 15th of 1999 Stilwell and Kramer were replaced with Danny Bonaduce (now-grown child actor of Partridge Family fame. After the change the Star broadcast declined in popularity and Bonaduce was eventually fired.

In September of 2000 Stilwell and Kramer joined KLSX in Los Angeles and formed a new show with Heidi Hamilton, a former traffic reporter. They first met at KYSR. Most of their fans (not to mention Stilwell and Kramer themselves) have stated that they are happier with Heidi's talent and personality.

In 2005, Stilwell, Kramer, and Hamilton entered a new three-year contract with KLSX, extending their show through at least 2008.

Frosty has had some scrapes with the law. His former next door neighbor Tiffani-Amber Thiessen accused Frosty of stalking her. Thiessen obtained a restraining order against Frosty which, among other provisions, precluded him from mentioning Thiessen's name on the air. Thiessen no longer lives next door to Frosty, and the restraining order is no longer valid.

On The Show

Frosty is frequently picked-on for being fat. He is also accused of being a homosexual by Frank and by some callers as well, however, he always denies this.

He lives alone in Studio City, CA with his dog named Rudydog. He claims to have only few or no friends and has been celibate for a long time.

Frosty is known to be obese and in poor health. On February 24, 2006, he revealed the results of a physical exam done two weeks prior. The exam revealed that he has a cholesterol level of 399, severe high blood pressure, psoriasis, and diabetes.

Frosty is a skilled piano player and on July 12, 2006, he revealed early on in his radio career he performed as a pianist on weekends for extra money.

Stilwell also used some of his pianist talents in a now infamous ballad to fellow radio personality Tom Leykis in which he professed his desire for Tom's 'Cream'. This occured on the annual drinking show but nevertheless fuels the fire for many rumors that hound him.

On October 31, 2006, Frosty revealed (according to him the for the fourth time on the show), that shortly after moving into his present home, he discovered the body of what he believed to be a deceased young girl in a hole he was digging in his backyard. He also stated that the previous owners of the property, while showing it to him as a prospective buyer, were reluctant to go into the backyard. Additionally, he stated that his new neighbors said the previous owners of the home had a daughter who was wheelchair-bound. The identity of the possible body is still unconfirmed, but on the same day of this broadcast a fellow station employee dressed as the this same alleged little girl for Halloween.
