Frosty, Heidi & Frank

The Frosty, Heidi & Frank Show is a talk radio show hosted by Frosty Stilwell, Heidi Hamilton, and Frank Kramer. The show is based in Los Angeles, California and broadcast from their home station 97.1 Free FM (KLSX) which is owned by CBS Radio. The show airs weekdays from 10am to 3pm Pacific Time, but the fifth hour of the block is a replay of the first hour.

History of the Show

Stilwell and Kramer were once part of the Jamie, Frosty, and Frank Show with Jamie White on Alice 105.9 (KALC) in Denver, Colorado, which began in 1994 and was Denver's highest rated talk show for a number of years. In 1998 the show moved to Los Angeles at Star 98.7 (KYSR), where they met traffic reporter Heidi Hamilton. In less than a year, the Jamie, Frosty, and Frank Show established itself as the second highest rated English language show in southern California. 1

However, in September of 1999 Stilwell and Kramer were replaced with Danny Bonaduce.

Hamilton was a traffic reporter at Star 98.7 in Los Angeles from 1998-2000, where she met Stilwell and Kramer, who were on air as part of the now-defunct Jamie, Frosty, and Frank Show. Stilwell and Kramer have stated that they are happier with Heidi's talent and personality.

Collectively, they are known as "The Triplets," though they are not fond of that nickname as it was given to them by entertainment reporter Sam Rubin, whom they dislike, and they will often hang-up on callers who refer to them that way. They have gone so far as to have a clause in their contract that says no one can call them "The Triplets."

Tension started between Sam Rubin and Frosty, Heidi, and Frank because Rubin would bash the trio frequently on his TV show, the KTLA Morning News. Rubin often called their show "unlistenable." Rubin's low ratings led to his KLSX departure in December 2003, and the station gave Frosty, Heidi, and Frank an extra hour of airtime.

In 2005, KLSX General Manager Bob Moore entered Frosty, Heidi, and Frank in a new three-year contract, extending their show through at least 2008.

The show was syndicated to 103.7 Free FM (KSCF) from October 2005 to December 2006. On January 2, 2007, KSCF replaced them with a local talk show, and later on June 22, 2007, KSCF flipped to a music format altogether.

The show was also syndicated to 101.5 Free FM (KZON) in Phoenix, Arizona, but the station changed their format back to music. Their last broadcast in Phoenix was on June 20, 2007.

Hosts

Frosty Stilwell

Frosty Stilwell (born November 17, 1959 in Terre Haute, Indiana) is an American radio personality and musician. Frosty's real name is not widely known, but public records searches show his real name as Forrest A. Stilwell. Stilwell's radio career included on-air positions in Terre Haute, Milwaukee, Louisville, Grand Rapids, Denver, and Los Angeles, California. In the show he is mocked for supposedly being effeminate, overweight, in poor health, having no friends, or social life,a card-carrying member of NAMBLA, collecting coins, being way too close to his dog, failing at his acting career, sitting at Starbucks for hours, and a complete lack of [...] activity. In fact the consensus is he has not had a real date since sometime in the 1980s. It remains to be seen how much of his personality is real and how much is a contrived radio character, and most people believe it is all true. Either he is a good actor or a complete loser. A common source of comedy comes from Frosty's keyboard which he introduced in early 2006. Fans still await his long-talked AbOUT CD, which has taken years to complete and still is not finished. Rumor is it will finally be released in 2008 and will be a double album. While he And Co-host Frank Kramer have been good friends for years, the occasional on-air blow-ups between the two have been legendary, including one of the most talked about shocking fights in radio history which went on for two hours. Perhaps it is the strangeness, volatility, and unpredictability of Stilwell's character that makes him noteworthy as one of America's most distinctive radio performers, love him or hate him. He spends several weeks a year overseas and is a seasoned world traveler. Stilwell currently resides in Studio City.

Heidi Hamilton

Heidi Dionne Hamilton (born September 24, 1973 in Batesville, Indiana) is an American radio personality. Hamilton is also an actor, performing in artistic roles in Los Angeles theater and appearing in independent films. She is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati. On the air, she has openly discussed her first [...] experiences with both men and women. She was once rumored to be romantically involved with a female country music star. An ongoing game she played on the radio with the audience was to guess the [...] of her significant other, known only as "The Italian." On October 27, 2006 at a live show in San Diego, California, Hamilton revealed that "The Italian" was in fact a woman. Hamilton currently resides in Encino, California. She has 5 dogs and loves to run in the hills above her home. She frequently mentions once having a lesbian relationship with a popular country music singer, and gives hints that point to the identity being Sony Music artist Gretchen Wilson.

Frank Kramer

Frank Kramer (born September 5, 1970 as Steven Francis Kramer in Terre Haute, Indiana) is an American radio personality. Kramer graduated from the University of Indiana as a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. After moving to Denver, Kramer joined with current partner Frosty Stilwell and Jamie White, where they had been Denver's highest rated talk show for a number of years, before they brought the show to Star 98.7 in Los Angeles in 1998. Frank is divorced and has stated that he will never remarry. He has a 10 year old daughter whom he did not know about until she was 5 years old, named Cassidy. There was a reference made by Heidi on the show aired September 24, 2007 that Frank's daughter is of half black and half white decent, calling her "a half and half". Frank received a trauma-induced cataract in his right eye, caused by playing sword fight with his sister using paint sticks, when he was 3 years of age. He had the cataract removed in October of 2006 and has regained sight in that eye after 33 years. He is a prolific partier, and advocate for the legalization of [...]. Kramer currently resides in Bell Canyon, California with Farty Schiavo.

Segments

Who's Going to Hell?

A regular segment done randomly about once a week or so is "Who's Going to Hell?" Frosty, Heidi, and Frank each pick a news story about subjects including cruelty, mistreatments, or gruesome deaths to animals or people. They compete to see who has the story about the worst example of human nature or behavior. They tend to attach humorous titles to attract votes, which callers must repeat for their vote to count.

Should I Stay or Should I Go?

The segment airs every Friday afternoon at 1:00pm, and it showcases local LA bands or singers trying to make it in the music industry that have yet to see major success. Two songs are usually played with listeners calling in to give their feedback. If the featured act or band is unanimously liked (getting 6 audience votes to "stay", zero "goes"), they are invited to play at Frosty, Heidi, and Frank's anniversary bash in September of that year.

The Apology

At the end of the show, before the repeat hour (around 1:55pm Pacific Time), Frosty, Heidi, and Frank "apologize" to people, groups, living creatures, and inanimate objects offended or even mentioned on the show. This is the same manner in which the Jamie, Frosty, and Frank show ended each day. Bill Handel of radio station KFI in Los Angeles soon adopted the same apologizing routine at the end of his morning show, yet when questioned on the air about it, he will not acknowledge that the Frosty, Heidi, and Frank show were the first to use it.
