Frazer-Nash Consultancy Ltd
Frazer-Nash Consultancy is a professional services firm providing engineering, project management, and procurement advice. The company is based in Dorking, United Kingdom, and has six other office locations around the country. It was founded in 1971 within the now-defunct Frazer-Nash Group, and is now fully owned by Babcock International Group plc. As of May 2009 it employed 350 people.
History
Frazer-Nash Consultancy was formed in 1971 as an element of the Frazer-Nash Group of companies. Computational methods for engineering analysis were becoming popular at this time, and the purpose of the Consultancy was to provide this service for the other group companies, which at this time produced a portfolio of products ranging from missile launch systems to postal sorting equipment.
When the Frazer-Nash Group went into receivership at the end of 1990, the Consultancy was bought by a group of its own senior managers. Over the next fourteen years the company expanded rapidly, opening a number of new offices and adding safety engineering to the existing core skills in analysis and design.
In 2004 the company was acquired by Devonport Management Limited (DML), partly to ensure that DML could retain ongoing access to Frazer-Nash’s nuclear engineering capability. DML was subsequently acquired by Babcock International, and Frazer-Nash was re-assigned to Babcock Marine.
Frazer-Nash Consultancy is now an autonomously operating element of Babcock Marine. The company retains its own profit and loss account, and is responsible for its own business planning and growth.
