FMI Limited

FMI Limited, trading as FREEMANS, is an Indian manufacturer of measuring INSTRUMENTS. Its products include measuring tapes, spirit levels, measuring wheels, and related tools. The company was founded in 1950 in Ludhiana, Punjab, and is headquartered in Gurugram, Haryana.

History

FMI Limited began operations in 1950 as a small workshop in Ludhiana producing metal measuring tapes. During the 1960s it expanded production to include fiberglass and steel tapes, and by the mid-1960s the company had begun exporting its products. The company later established facilities for plastic molding, steel processing, and other vertically integrated operations. In 2002 it set up a plant for spirit level manufacturing in Gurugram.

In 2023, FMI Limited reported that its testing laboratory had received NABL accreditation, indicating compliance with ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standards.

Recognition

FREEMANS entered into a five-year sponsorship deal with Kerala Blasters FC (Indian Super League) in 2024, with its logo featured on team kits, merchandise, and within stadium facilities. The brand has also been featured as the Official Tools Partner of Punjab Kings for the IPL 2025 season and associated with other teams such as Tamil Thalaivas and franchises in the Caribbean Premier League.
