Flyers Ice Hockey Club (IHC) are one of the longest established ice hockey clubs in Ireland. The club aims to promote the best sport in the World in Ireland.

History

Flyers Ice Hockey Club was founded by Keith Daly and Brian Clery in 2006, two Irish players who have been heavily involved in the sport for the past 20 years.

The Flyers were one of five teams in the newly formed Irish Ice Hockey League (IIHL) and coached by Keith Daly. Their first game was played on March 25, 2007 against the Northern Ireland Prowlers where they were defeated 2-1. The teams lone goal was scored by Gerry "Fifth Gear" Duffy. The Flyers played their first regular season IIHL game on September 15, 2007 where they were defeated 11 - 4 by the Belfast City Bruins. The first victory against xxxx

  • 2007/2008 season: Semi-Final (8-14 loss against Dublin Rams)
  • 2008/2009 season: 6th
  • 2009/2010 season: 3rd

Flyers 'B'

The Flyers 'B' Team participated in the Irish Ice Hockey Development Division (IIHL DD) between 2008-2010. Their first game was played on October 05, 2008 against Drogheda Ice Breakers 2 where they won 3-0. The goals were scored by Michael Mandsfeld, Brian Clery.

  • 2009/2010 season: final (2-3 loss against Raiders IHC)

Dundalk closure

The closure of the Dundalk Ice Dome in May 2011 marked an end to the Irish Ice Hockey League and Irish Ice Hockey Development Division.

Inline hockey

Due to the continuing lack of ice rinks, Flyers Ice Hockey Club decided in 2011 to play online hockey. Their first game was played on October 20, 2011 against Dublin Riots where they were defeated x-x. The teams goals were scored by Barry Higgins.

Junior Flyers

The Junior Team was formed in April 2012 as part of the newly opened Santry Ice Arena. Due to the closure of Santry Ice Arena after two month, the Juniors currently also playing inline hockey.
