Firehouse Collective

The Firehouse Collective is a large-scale artist collective in Berkeley, CA. It was founded during the summer of 2006 by graduates of ceramics at California College of the Arts, Tom Franco and Joe Kowalczyk. Early in the development of the collective they met Sara Kagan, and the three became the founding members. Together with the help of various artists they established the artist collective.

The collective operates two working artist studios (East/West Studios) in south Berkeley, California and an art classroom and a gallery (Firehouse North) in the "gourmet ghetto" of north Berkeley. The Collective is home to over twenty emerging artists, working in various media. It was voted best open studio by Diablo Magazine in its July, 2008 EDition.
