F1CEL - F1 Challenge Estonian League - was created in 2004 by Raul "Scuderia" Roht. The original idea was to centralize all the best Estonian online racers to the same league. However, it took a lot of effort to gather a certain bunch of fast drivers into the league.

It all began in 2003 when Scuderia and his friend mcquiz tried out the F1 2002 game online. In February 2004 the F12002EL was started but it didn't last longer than mere 3 Grands Prix. The reason being the introduction of F1 Challenge 99-02 by EA Sports. So it took some 2 months before the newly formed league got under way. There were only 6 racers in the first F1CEL hosted GP. In the mid-summer of 2004 it seemed as if the league was going to fold for good since there were only 3 racers left in the series. But they kept on going and at the end of the year a lovely 10+ grid formed up in every race with the pinnacle being The F1CEL Spanish Grand Prix with 14 participants.

In 2005 the league got some better racers in its family and it did raise the bar hugely. It also meant a new bunch of drivers arriving thanks to a pretty vast advertisement campaign on local web-pages and forums. The 2005 season started with 14 cars on the grid and stayed like that more or less for the whole year. During the USA GP weekend a massive 21 drivers showed up for the qualification. At the end of the 2005 season one of the fastest drivers left the league and that meant more winning opportunities for slower guys which showed pretty well since 17 drivers registered for the first race of the 2006 season. The same trend continued throughout the whole year and more and more drivers flocked to the league to at least give it a try.

In 2007 the league was divided into 2 parts to make room for all drivers - Classic and Modern. Classic being for F1C 1988 MOD and Modern for 2007 MOD. According to the latest statistics 35 drivers have competed in the Modern series during this years 16 Grands Prix and 15 drivers in the Classic series. Over the years 88 drivers have started at least 1 GP in the series.

By today, F1CEL has its unique place in Estonia's online racing folklore for being the largest, strongest, best organized and most of all the oldest online racing league in Estonia.
