Exinda Networks is a supplier of WAN optimization and application acceleration appliances. The firm was founded in 2002, and has locations in Boston, Massachusetts and Melbourne, Australia.

Exinda appliances optimize and accelerate applications running across wide area networks. Exinda x700 appliances provide traffic management capabilities to monitor and optimize application performance, while Exinda x800 appliances combine the traffic management capabilities of the x700s with TCP and application acceleration.

History

Exinda was founded in 2002 by Con Nikolouzakis and Chris Siakos in Melbourne, Australia. The company raised seed funding from Melbourne Capital in 2004.

In December 2006, Exinda announced its plans to integrate WAN optimization and application acceleration, monitoring, and visibility on a single platform. In March 2007, Exinda introduced the x800 appliance series, which combines application monitoring, WAN optimization, and application acceleration onto one device.

In April 2007, Exinda raised $6 million in venture capital funding from OpenView Venture Partners. The funding was earmarked for the expansion of the company's U.S. operations and development efforts.

In May 2007, Exinda launched Service Delivery Point, a web-based solution for remotely managing Exinda appliances and network traffic.

In November 2007, Exinda added the capability to classify recreational traffic to its WAN optimization appliances. Exinda's Layer 7 Heuristics Engine can classify BitTorrent, Skype, Facebook, MySpace, and gaming traffic, and gives network administrators the ability to restrict or block it.

In December 2007, Stan Schreyer joined Exinda as its VP of Sales for North America. Prior to Exinda, Schreyer was the VP of worldwide sales for FireTide and the CEO of Marketlink Technologies.
