Ervins Junelis
Ervins Junelis was born in Riga, Latvia 02/09/1991.
Ervins started his Karate career when he was 7 years old, under the coaching of Alexander Bondarev, who is now the president of Dzen Do Karate federation.
During his Karate career Ervins won multiple national awards and medals and visited multiple countries as a member of Latvian National Karate Team, where Ervins achieved great results in solo and team Karate events.
Ervins joined the Latvian National Karate Team at the age of 12 and started to train under the direct coaching of Leonid Vasiljev, the creator of Latvian Karate Federation.
One of the most popular fights that Ervins had was against Kalvis Kalnins in January 2000, at the tournament called The Olympic Spirit, which he won after 3 min of the standard fight + 1min extra time. Ervins won that fight by 1 point and he made himself become very noticeable to sponsors and serious coaches, since his opponent Kalvis Kalnins was the top karate athlete in his age group at that moment.
Kalvis and Ervins met again in March 2001, during another Olympic Spirit tournament, and Ervins won again by 1 point, again in the over time fight.
Right now Kalvis is officialy the best karate athlete in Latvia, and the only athlete that he could not win was Ervins Junelis.
Ervins Junelis stopped his Karate career when he was 13, for unknown reasons, and refused to give an interview or answer any questions AbOUT him quiting the sport, the National team and leaving all the sponsors completely confused.
