Dublin Bus Route 142

Dublin Bus Route 142 is a bus route in Dublin, Ireland, that runs from Rathmines, in south Dublin city, to the town of Pormarnock in Fingal. It is a express service providing access from Portmarnock, Malahide and the Waterside and Holywell areas of Swords, via the M1 motorway and Port Tunnel to Dublin City Centre and South Dublin City. It is operated by Dublin Bus but is not part of their Xpresso branded routes. It operates peak times only from Monday to Friday and has a frequency of approximetely every 10-15 minutes while operating.

Route

Route 142 operates from Rathmines in south Dublin City to the town of Portmarnock. It runs along the coast, via Palmerstown Park, Palmerstown Road, Cowper Road, Rathmines Road Upper, Rathmines Road Lower, Richmond Street South, Charlotte Way, Earlsfort Terrace, St. Spephens Green, Dawson Street, Suffolk Street, Eden Quay, Custom House Quay, North Wall Quay, East Wall Road, Dublin Port Tunnel, M1 Motorway, Holywell Estate, Montgorry Way, Malahide Road, Estuary Road, Yellow Walls Road, Dublin Road, Church Road, The Hill, Blackwood Lane, Redfern Avenue, Wendell Avenue and Strand Road, utillising the Dublin Port Tunnel for a large portion of its journey.

Fares

To determine fare prices routes are divided into different fare stages. Route 142 is divided into 31 different stages. The fare charged depends on how many stages travelled. Cash fares must be paid in coins in the exact amount. Passengers can avail of cheaper fares by using a prepaid "Leapcard", which can be purchased and topped up at Payzone outlets.

• Schoolchild Cash Fares apply only during normal school terms, for travel between home and school Monday to Friday up to 17:00hrs and on Saturday up to 13:30hrs.
