Don Burke (ice hockey)
Don Burke (born January 25, 1968 in Penticton, British Columbia) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player, currently serving as captain of the Brisbane Blue Tongues of the Australian Ice Hockey League.
Playing career
A 6'2" defenceman, Burke played junior hockey for the Kelowna Packers and went on to play two seasons at the University of Alabama in Huntsville. From there, Burke became a journeyman as he played for seven different franchises across four leagues in just three seasons. Among the teams he played for were: Memphis RiverKings, Roanoke Valley Rampage (and later the same franchise under a new name, the Huntsville Blast), Atlanta Knights, Wichita Thunder, West Palm Beach Blaze, Tulsa Oilers and Dallas Freeze.
Burke now lives in Australia and has been a member of the Brisbane Blue Tongues organisation since their admission to the AIHL in 2005. He was named captain of the team for the 2006 season.
