Delano Roberts
Delano Roberts (January 12, 1992) is an American journalist who writes for the website, the Examiner, and on his pop culture blog, POP! He has been complimented on his early success at the young age of 17. His blog has been nominated for numerous awards and he is also known for his quick rise on the Top 5 writers for the Raleigh Examiner.
Personal
Roberts was born in North Carolina and is part of the Haliwa- Saponi Tribe that is located in his hometown. Delano Roberts had big dreams and lived in a small, wooden town which made him depress. His depression grew from his lack of expressing his self due to the his hometown. Delano later realized he could express himself even living in a small town. At this time he started writing short stories about worlds that didn't exist except in his imagination. His earlier interest in writing was in pre-school where he use to write and bind his own books with yarn.
The books would be origianl scary stories, since horror was his favorite genre, about a man with a 'creepy white hand'. Delano Roberts has stated that teachers inspired him to write more and his middle school librarian got him into trying to write books. Roberts always dreamed to be a writer and is influenced byJ.K. Rowling and Roald Dahl while writing books. He never believed his writing was good enough to become a book.To pratice on his writing skills he started POP! at 17, about his insights on pop culture.
Delano had enjoyed talking about pop culture and had a vast knowledge on the subject. Without a thought he chose to write about what he knew best. He later became known as his alter-ego "The Pop Culture Guy" through his blog. While writing for POP! he started writing for examiner.com as their Raleigh Pop Culture Examiner. Roberts does plan to attend college to major in either English or Creative Writing and minor in Journalism. He has stated in many of his blog post that his dream school has always been The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and that he plans to apply there.

Delano Roberts says he create POP! because his obsession fame and all things pretty. POP! Blog is a blog where Roberts writes about his insights on pop culture. He goes by the alter-ego, "The Pop Culture Guy", that is more outrageous and out there than he is. When POP! first started Roberts began focusing on celebrity gossip on a majority of his post, but then later apoplogized and said that it wasn't what he wanted the blog to be about.
"I started to gossip and in the beginning I said it wasn't going to be like that. I had lost touch already of what the site was about before I got into day 2 of having it." -Post apologizing to readers
He became know for his profiles on celebrities; like Karl Lagerfeld, Nicki Minaj, and his post about why Madonna is his hero. POP! Blog has been nominated for 4 Bloggers Choice Awards, including, Best Blog of All-Time, Best Pop Culture Blog, Best Humor Blog, and Best Entertainment Blog. It has also been nominated for for Best Entertainment Blog on Blogspot for August/September.

Delano Roberts also writes for examiner.com in the Raliegh and the national section of Examiner.
