David Riemens

David Riemens (born January 17, 1952) has been missing since August 8, 2012. Riemens vanished from the parking lot of a Dollar General store in Watertown, Tennessee, at the age of 60.

Disappearance

Riemens, an accomplished artist and stonemason, told friends he was to meet an "older man" regarding a stonework construction job in the parking lot of a local Dollar General outlet. The store had no security cameras. No witnesses have been found to testify whether Riemens actually met anyone or who was present at any meeting which may have occurred. After Riemens didn't come home for several days, an organized search took place. Riemens' vehicle, a pickup truck, was found in the parking lot, but Riemens himself has not been located.

Timeline

Pre-disappearance

Riemens and a group of friends removed to Tennessee from Michigan in the 1970s. Riemens was a talented visual artist by many accounts but earned his living through stonemasonry work.

Riemens lived simply and picked up odd jobs while living with a group of friends in a rural setting. One of six children, he is said to have maintained close ties to his family.

On July 29th or August 4th, 2012, Riemens met SomeOne at Lulu's Cafe in Watertown who he described to friends as an "old man" who needed masonry work for a construction project. The project, friends recalled, could have been a home for the man's adult child. Riemens went to the man's property twice to pick up brick; the day he disappeared he said he had set up a meeting with the "old man" to bid out the stone facing for the home's foundation.

Riemens described the property as having had a stone fence and barn, and said two other men were at the location on the dates when Riemens visited. However, those dates and the identities of the men are unknown.

Post-disappearance

When Riemens didn't come home for several days, the friends on whose property he lived became concerned and called police. Riemens' truck was found at the Dollar General intended site of his meeting, but no trace of Riemens has been found.

Police dogs located Riemens' scent in the parking lot. Loved ones believe Riemens left the lot in a second vehicle, possibly with the unknown man he was meeting AbOUT construction work.

Media coverage

Riemens' case was featured on Investigation Discovery's Disappeared (TV series) on May 16, 2016. Nashville, Tennessee media has intermittently covered the case, particularly around the anniversary of Riemens' disappearance.
