Daddy Cop (song)

"Daddy Cop" is a single by Zander Hawley that was written for his father Alexi Hawley's television show The Rookie. The song first appeared in the Season Five episode, "Daddy Cop", as a skit for the cold open of the episode which had fans wanting a full-length version. The song was released on to streaming platforms on 28 February 2024, the day after the 100th episode of the show.

Background

After being a comedic skit during a fifth episode of The Rookie, fans wanted a full version of the song which was then released for the sixth season episode "The Hammer". During the first time the song was featured, Hawley's character, Rodge Bronson, was singing the song about series lead John Nolan, played by Nathan Fillion.

Reception

In a review for a later episode Hawley appeared in, the song was called “TikTok famous”. Another review by Marisa Roffman called the song “ridiculously catchy”.

Rachel Foertsch mentioned in a Screen Rant article how the song is “beloved by fans”.
