"Dushtu Kokil" ( ; ) is a single from the soundtrack of 2024 Bangladeshi film Toofan. The song's tune, music, and lyrics were composed by Akassh, who also performed the song alongside Dilshad Nahar Kona.

Background

The film's trailer was released on 15 June, featuring a brief segment of the song Dushtu Kokil. Excerpts from the track subsequently gained attention on social media platforms. The full song from the film was officially released on 20 June 2024, three days after the film's release, on two YouTube channels, Chorki and SVF. The track is sung by Dilshad Nahar Kona and Akassh, who also served as its lyricist and composer. In the song's picturisation, Mimi Chakraborty is shown performing at a bar, during which the protagonist, portrayed by Shakib Khan, is depicted as falling in love with her. Indian television actor Manav Sachdev made a special appearance in the song.

In an interview with Dhaka Post, singer Dilshad Nahar Kona stated that composer Akassh had initially sent her a four-line demo of the song. She said that she was occupied with other work at the time, but later agreed to record the song after Akassh contacted her again.

Reception

Following its release, the song received a positive response from audiences. Within two days of its release, the song reached second place on YouTube trending list, garnering five million views in that period. On the following day, the song reached the top position of YouTube trending chart, reaching 6.5 million views. As reported by Prothom Alo on 24 June, the song garnered over 9.5 million views on Chorki and more than 4.5 million views on SVF channel within three days of release. The song garnered 200 million views within two months of its release. As of 5 February 2025, the song had surpassed 400 million views within seven months of its release. According to a Prothom Alo report in December 2025, "Dushtu Kokil" and "Laage Ura Dhura" collectively crossed one billion views, marking a record for Bengali-language songs, while "Dushtu Kokil" alone recorded more than 500 million views.

Shamayita Chakraborty of OTTPlay noted that the songs in Toofan added bursts of energy to the film, with Dushtu Kokil and Laage Ura Dhura emerging as standout tracks. However, she pointed out that their late entry diminished their narrative impact.

Veteran singer Runa Laila praised the song as well as Dilshad Nahar Kona's performance.
