History
D1 Performance Science L.L.C. was founded in March 2009 by C.J. Easter. Inspired by an entrepreneurship class in his senior year at Stanford, Easter took a leave of absence from Stanford to follow his inspiration. Easter combined his experience in Management Science and Engineering and Division One Football to create D1 Performance Science. He also drew from his network of Division One athletes to create his training and management team.
Programs
D1 trains all age and fitness levels. D1's personal trainers develop a workout plan for the client, given their age level and physical abilities and goals.
D1 also has several different skill camps designed for young athletes to hone their athletic abilities. D1 hosts speed and agility camps in which athletes work on increasing their functional flexibility, explosiveness, and foot quickness.
Speed Camps
D1 Performance Science currently runs offseason training and conditioning camp for middle and high school aged athletes. The camps are run in Menlo Park, Palo Alto, and San Mateo. The camps are mainly run in the periods in which schools are not in session.
Gunn High School
Currently, D1 is responsible for the offseason strength and conditioning training of the Henry M. Gunn High School football program. Each player is given a specific workout regimen every week that is adjusted based on the players' goals, previous performances, and personal bests.
Get Fit for Haiti Charity Fitness Bootcamp
On Saturday, Jaunuary 30th, 2010, D1 hosted the Get Fit for Haiti Charity Fitness Bootcamp. In this event, they raised over $600 for UNICEF's Haiti Relief Fund.
Nutrition Program
In D1's nutrition program, they advocate a "positive addition" regimen instead of a negative subtraction program. Rather than short-term diets, D1 encourages its clients to add healthy routines and food to their existent diet such as eating breakfast every morning and drinking water throughout the day.
S.M.A.R.T. Program
D1 uses the acronym S.M.A.R.T. to outline their goal setting program. It stands for "specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, timely". The point of the acronym system is to break down goal achievements into smaller, more realizable goals so that the client and trainer can work towards each smaller goal until the larger, end goal is realized.
