Courtesy Blush
Courtesy Blush is a rock band from Thornhill, Ontario, Canada, which has been together since 2002. Courtesy Blush has toured Europe twice since forming and, during this time, they have gained fan support worldwide--primarily through relentless tour schedules and live performances. The four musicians teamed up with award-winning producer Matt Dematteo (who produced bands like Mobile (band)) to record the band's first record: Sweet Modern Fairy Tales.
Biography
Taken directly from the Courtesy Blush MySpace:
"Why are you reading this? No, seriously, why are you even interested in finding out anything AbOUT Courtesy Blush? Is it the music? Is it the four irresistibly sexy people in this band that are tickling your fancy? Or, is it because we're the "COOL" band to listen to and you just wanna fit in with your friends? Honestly, ask yourself! We ask ourselves very similar questions every day. The only thing we know for certain is that our music comes from the right place and carries artistic integrity and credibility. This bio will not contain lame, exaggerated metaphors, but simply give you an idea of what we're all about...
In the niveous, cold winter of 2002, Ben Reinhartz (drums/vocals), Jon Arden (vocals/guitar), Mathew Wronski (bass/vocals) and Pedja Milosavljević (guitar/vocals) realized that a good way to keep warm was by using each others' body heat. While spending many months in Ben's basement [...] and keeping warm, a musical conglomerate was created. The first E.P., 'Sweet Modern Fairy Tales', was released nation wide in 2004, through Bad Samaritan Records. Two European tours followed in support of the new release, taking the band across France, Spain and the U.K. Shortly after, the band (then a 5 piece) parted ways with their vocalist, Stan. Persevering through the setbacks, Courtesy Blush welcomed a new vocalist and released their second E.P. in 2007 - 'The Faces E.P.'. The album was released independently, with worldwide distribution through 'Indiepool' (www.indiepool.com). Right before the release of the E.P., the band parted ways with their second vocalist, Charlie, leaving them currently as a four piece. Jon has taken over the lead vocals, with everyone else singing along. A full length release is scheduled for fall of 2008 with engineer/producer Matt DeMatteo ('Sweet Modern Fairy Tales' (our first e.p.), Mobile, Danko Jones, Big Wreck, etc...)
As for what we sound like... We love writing high energy music with attitude and umph. Melody and mood play a really big part in our song writing. A lot of focus is definitely put on bootylicious rhythms that get the blood flowing and remind us we're alive. Some people like to compare us to bands such as Glassjaw, Refused & At the Drive-in, but in the end it's best to just have a listen yourself."
