Construcciones Metalúrgicas Zanello. more known as Zanello, was a large company, which in more than 50 years dedicated to the production of tractors, irrigation equipment, forklifts, power generators, power groups, forage equipment.
History
Construcciones Metalúrgicas Zanello was founded in 1951 by Mr. Pedro Zanello, father of Luis and Carlos Zanello, later owners of the factory, in Las Varillas, Córdoba. His goal, at that time, was the creation of a metallurgical workshop where truck-mounted equipment was manufactured. It was a sheet metal workshop where welding and folding work was carried out. In the 60's, Construcciones Metalúrgicas Zanello started in the production of self-propelled road machines, being the first national firm to venture into this branch. Turning to being the main activity of the firm, Zanello manufactured pneumatic compactors, wheel loaders, tip compactors, vibrating compactors, concrete pavers, motor graders and hydraulic backpacks.
Zanello in the 70's
In the early seventies, the company already was leaded by Luis and Carlos Zanello. In that time, Zanello produced his first tractors, for to the forest industry. In them, the brothers put their inventiveness, to develop an articulated tractor, unique in its kind in South America and almost at the same time as in the United States.
Zanello in the 80's
In the mid-1980s, it started with the manufacture of engines, transmissions, fuel injection pumps and water pumps. In little more than three decades, Zanello it had been transformed from a small smithy to a factory with a surface of 30,000 square meters. Toward 1985, Zanello began producing his own motors, transmissions, pumps of fuel injection and pumps of water. Beyond that in the middle of the decade he lost his leadership position of the market, although it retained a share around 25%, Zanello was still being recognized for its innovations technologies, as well as being the emblem of the national tractor.
Zanello in the worldwide
About to the international market, in addition to the sale of units to countries border, Zanello signed in the middle of the 80's a production and transfer agreement of technology of its products with Steiger (currently Case), in order to export tractors to the United States and Canada. To the be one of the few articulated tractors of average power and high, Steiger sued 600 units Zanello, being marketed under the PUMA model. East commercial agreement, however, it did not manage to maintain itself in the future.
Closure and disappearance
At the beginning of the 2000s, the company had to close, but years later it started again its activities
