Constantin Abăluţă

Constantin Abăluţă (born 8 October 1938 in Bucharest) is a Romanian poet, writer and translator.

An active writer of poetry since the mid 1960s, Abăluţă has translated works by Thomas Roetke, Frank O'Hara, Wallace Stevens, and Dylan Thomas into the Romanian language. He studied architecture in Bucharest, Romania and he is also a painter. Since 2007, he is the President of Romanian PEN Club center. He wrote many haiku and he is considered an expert in writing this form of Japanese poems in Romanian. Abăluţă was awarded many prizes of Writers Union of Romania both as a poet and a translator.
