Concerto (software)
Concerto is a Project Execution management system, based on Critical Chain concepts, and developed by Realization.
Concerto was originally designed and developed in 1997.
Features
Concerto is Realization’s proprietary software, available in the English, Hebrew and Japanese.
Concerto consists of three modules, each of which reinforces the three Rules of Critical Chain.
1. Concerto Critical Chain Planning is the first module. It is used for planning (and replanning) projects. It runs on the Windows operating system (Windows XP and Windows 7), and works in conjunction with MS Project. The module does calculations of the critical chain, feeding chains, and buffers.
2. Concerto Pipeline Planning is the second module and is used to prioritize and sequence multiple projects. It also runs on the Windows operating system (Windows XP and Windows 7), but does not need MS Project. The module helps identify the most limiting resources (drums) and provides what-if capabilities. It connects to a central database, where all projects are stored.
3. Concerto Web is the primary execution management engine. Users of Concerto Web update tasks, get synchronized task priorities, see the status of individual projects as well as the portfolio of projects, and get information about emerging resource bottlenecks. Users can also diagnose the causes of buffer penetration, examine the source of frequent delays, raise issues for rapid response, etc.
