Codar Africa

CODAR Africa, also known as Codar Tech Africa, is a Nigerian company that provides professional training in Technology and other digital skills. The company is based in Lagos, Nigeria.

History

CODAR was founded in Nigeria in December 2021 by entrepreneurs including David Sokefun, Williams Olusegun, John Oduoye and Emmanuel Asaolu. In an interview with The Guardian Nigeria published in April 2023, Sokefun and Olusegun described the company as an effort to address gaps they had identified in the quality, affordability and accessibility of technical training in Africa.

The company initially focused on technology training, particularly software engineering and related digital skills. An academic publication examining technology training and digital-skills development in Nigeria also identifies Codar Tech Africa as a technology-training organization operating in Lagos.

CODAR subsequently expanded its training activities to include areas such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, data analytics and other technology disciplines.

Training and education

CODAR provides professional technology training through courses and programmes covering software development, artificial intelligence, data analytics, cybersecurity and related fields. Its training model emphasizes practical exercises, projects and technology skills intended to prepare learners for employment in the digital economy.

In 2024, The Guardian Nigeria reported that CODAR was pursuing partnerships with universities in Nigeria and abroad as part of efforts to expand artificial-intelligence education. In July 2023, The Guardian Nigeria reported that CODAR was expanding outside Nigeria, with the company announcing plans to enter markets including Kenya, South Africa and Egypt. Funding

In July 2026, technology publications reported that CODAR had secured US$1.5 million in equity and debt financing to expand its artificial-intelligence and digital-skills training programmes. TechCabal reported that the funding would support expansion of AI programmes, the online learning platform, new learning hubs and scholarship opportunities.
