Chris Foley (footballer)
Chris Foley is an Irish ex-soccer player.
Early Life
He was born in Dublin in 1980. He played his schoolboy football with St.John Bosco in the DDSL as a striker until the age of 17. At 17, after finishing secondary school he and his mate Brian McDonnell went to the Faroe Islands to study the geographical beauty of the area. He planned to return home after a month but whilst there he joined B36 Torshavn, the islands largest team.
B36
His love for football convinced him to stay there for a year. He played 32 games for B36 scoring 9 goals.
Valetta
After that season he decided to embark on his next adventure, going to Malta to play with Malta's biggest side, FC Valetta. However, he failed to adjust to Maltese football and soon returned to the Faroe Islands.
Personal Life
When back in Torshavn, he married Sarah Kroldrup, a faroes/danish woman he'd met when he first went over there. And soon moved back to Ireland with her and they now have a 3 year old son, Paddy.
Kildare County
In 2005 Foley made a brief return to football playing with Kildare based side Kildare County. He made 7 appearances with them scoring 4 goals before calling it a day on his part-time career due to work-commitments at the age of 25.
Today
Nowadays he plays with his local team Dublin Bus in the leinster senior league and also helps out coaching teams throughout Dublin. However, he'l always be remembered for his year in Torshavn, where he became a fans favourite.
