Chin2 Bhosle
Chin2 Bhosle (born Chaitanya Bhosle, February 4, 1975, in Mumbai, India) is an Indian musician. He is grandson of Asha Bhosle and the grandnephew of Lata Mangeshkar. He is a singer, composer, radio jockey, video jockey, actor and performer.
Early life
A post graduate from one of Mumbai’s premiere Business Schools, Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS), Chaitanya Bhosle or Chin2 as he’s better known, entered the world of white collared jobs (at Percept) as an Event Management Executive. His next shift was to mainstream advertising with Lintas, as a Client Servicing executive. While with Lintas, an opportunity arose to compose an ad jingle for a presentation, which he quickly volunteered to do. The jingle was highly appreciated and that probably triggered a chain of events culminating with him being where he is today! After a year of working with Lintas he quit his job to follow his dream to pursue music as his career.
Journey so far
He has released 4 music albums Ye bhi who bhi, Kiss Kis Ko, Gaane bhi do yaaron,Ghantaa!!! The Bell with his band - A Band of Boys – giving you mega hits like – "Meri Neend", "Gori" and "Nain Katari".
He has released 2 solo music albums with grandmom Asha Bhosle, with the 1st albums release, Pyaar khushnaseeb hitting the top 10 Indi-pop charts and winning him the Best Music Album of the year award. The second album, Coming Home, has almost touched a million views on YouTube and has been sung in 5 different Indian languages! He has been successful in Video jockeying, Radio jockeying and Television hosting
He has starred in a Bollywood film - Kiss Kis ko (a film loosely based on the life of his band – A Band of Boys) Appearing and performing on various TV shows – Sa re ga ma L’il Champs, Indian Idol, Boogie Woogie, Kisme kitna hai dam, etc. He has performed for various mega concerts and televised events – Femina Ms. India (2004 and 2006), Indian Telly Awards, MTV Music Summit, etc. He has performed in over 500 shows in India and abroad which includes concerts done with grandmother, Asha Bhosle
Music for Ads and Theatre
He has composed jingles, ad songs, background scores and audio scripts for advertising agencies, television channels, production houses and FMCG companies. His compositions also include background scores for various children’s plays A Christmas Carol & Jungle Book and arranging and sequencing music for professional plays Wait Until Dark, The Big A etc. He stepped onto Mumbai’s professional theatre circuit with a musical play on AIDS – SOS. Since then, he’s performed in other plays such as The Big A, Keely & Du and Chakravyuh having worked with noted theatre directors Janak Toprani, Madhulika Verma and Vishaal Asrani. However, his big break came when he co-starred with Sharon Prabhakar, as Che Guevara, in Evita, directed by Alyque Padamsee and did numerous performances in Mumbai and Dubai. He’s debut as a Theatre Director happened with - Wait Until Dark, a stage adaptation of the Oscar winning movie Wait Until Dark starring Audrey Hepburn & Alan Arkin.
Radio
Chin2 has been a Radio Jockey on two stations - Big FM and 107.1 FM (All India Radio) and has hosted several shows such as – It’s My Day, Homeward Bound, Mumbai Meri Jaan, Wednesday Mail Box, Love Cruise, East-West Masala and Spotlight apart from many sponsored programs. After a year of regular radio programming, he put his creativity to work to soon develop and successfully execute 3 new radio concepts (then aired for the first time on Indian radio in 1999). The innovative programs included Candid Radio – interviewing people over the phone without them knowing that they were on radio; The Wait Until Dark Show – a horror show based on true Indian ghost stories interspersed with appropriate SFX and songs and The Riddlers Delight – a pager show where lateral thinking riddles are asked and listeners page in with their replies. Other than being a radio jockey, Chin2 has, worked as the Programming Director, worked with Big FM and launched the Mumbai station. He has also done plays on All India Radio’s Medium Wave, such as Family Fun, Enchanted Tales and The Big A' and helped set up a Radio web site with noted Indian Voice artiste Harish Bhimani – Radiosutra.com.
Chin2 Bhosle MusicWorks
Other than composing and performing, he has also begun his own music academy – Chin2 Bhosle MusicWorks where kids are taught the basics of music and individual instruments (like the tablas, guitars, drums, keyboards, etc.) The objective of Chin2 Bhosle MusicWorks is to hook kids onto the magic of music making - in a fun way! Along with the kids learning various instruments. Chin2 is very clear that the kids also jam with him and his band so that they get a practical exposure to music playing and making. Jamming with professional musicians also ensures that the kids stay motivated and continue on their musical journey. Chin2 Bhosle MusicWorks also does music sessions with Bombay International School and Aditya Birla World Academy. He has also been making nursery rhymes hosted by a channel on Youtube - Kidscamp - and the rhymes, cumulatively, have garnered over 100 million views.
Live Shows
Chin2 performs with his live band Chin2 Bhosle & The Great Indian Road Trip at various shows (corporates, colleges, music festivals, etc.) His latest venture includes Drum Jam sessions – where he and his band do a percussion jam, with his audiences playing with him with over 40-50 djembes!
Chikaraks
He is also a director and co-founder of a kids entertainment company – Kiddy Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. – and their first venture is – The Chikaras – Your kids first rock band. The Chikaraks is all about providing wholesome and clean entertainment for your kids (up to the age of 6 years)
