Charter in International Business Development (CBID)

The Charter in International Business Development (CIBD) is the one-year, graduate-level, self-study program covering topics relevant to international business development and global strategic management that is administered by The International Business Development Institute. In order to earn the CIBD designation, candidates are required to pass an examination administered by the Executive Director of Academic Programs. The Academics Department is comprised of top-ranked Harvard, MIT, and Fulbright Scholars, including Dr. Kevin Karty (MIT), and Dr. Benjamin Bolger, Harvard.

The curriculum is grounded in practice, and is based on an ongoing assessment of needs within the international business development industry. Both programs require candidates to master topics in ethics, philosophy, international economics, marketing, international politics, management, and technology. The examinations incorporate broad-based knowledge from these topics in order to evaluate a candidates ability to assess international business and marketing opportunities, intelligence-gathering techniques, design formal proposals and presentations, and develop business model designs.

The examinations also cover marketing, information management, knowledge management, finance, legal aspects, and advertising as it affects international business development and associated cultures and economies. Global employers recognize the value of the program as a cost effective method of increasing the efficiency and professionalism of their staff members. The ethical nature of the program incorporates a risk-management element that has thus far been missing from the business development industry.
