Charlie "The Gasman" Warren
Charlie "the Gasman" Warren (b. Charles Warren 7 Sept 1983) is a popular and much-revered DJ/promoter, often credited with having reinvigorated the 'indie/electro' movement in his adopted city of Bristol, UK. His main achievements include the establishment of the internationally-acclaimed club night 'Entertainment!' (inspired by the seminal Gang of Four album name), and his first charity fundraising event, 'Rwandance 2007', to assist in raising money and awareness for his development project in Rwanda.
Early life
Charlie was born in south-west London on September 7 1983. Although christened a Protestant, religion has never played a significant part in his life, apart from the infamous 'Glade Trip 2006' (see below).
DJ career
Inspired by the nu-rave ideals of DJs such as Erol Alkan and Simian Mobile Disco whilst simultaneously unimpressed with the Bristol underground Electro scene, in November 2005 Charlie and his friend Tom "Barnes" Barnes set it upon themselves to revolutionise the genre. Following in the footsteps of Bristol 'Trip Hop' legends Massive Attack and Portishead, they began their first club night at the Mandrake Club on November 4th 2005.
