- Edith J. Nichols first sought election to the Bracebridge council in 1991. She was unsuccessful that year, but was elected in 1994 and re-elected in 1997, 2000, 2003, and 2006. She did not seek re-election in 2010. Nichols has chaired Bracebridge's Festival of the Falls and has said that she tried to preserve the community's small-town character.
