Battle of A Boa Qu

The Battle of A Boa Qu was quite possibly one of the bloodiest battles in the Mobile Suit Gundam series. It was also the last battle of the One Year War. It took place on December 31, Universal Century 0079, and ended on the day of the peace treaty signing, January 1st, Universal Century 0080. It started when the Earth Federation forces took Zeon's Solomon space fortress on December 24, U.C. 0079, and the Federation leader, General Revil, had decided to implement "Operation Star One", his plan to end the war. He planned to attack Zeon's last line of defense, Space Fortress A Boa Qu, from all three sides and then attack Side 3 itself. However, Zeon's leader, Degwin Sodo Zabi, had decided to want peace. So to implement his own plan of peace, he went to the Federation fleet aboard his personal ship, the Great Degwin, to attempt a peace settlement with General Revil. However, Degwin's eldest son, Gihren, had other plans, and decided to strike the Federation a crippling blow with his new Solar Ray System weapon, which is similar to the Solar Flare System the Federation used to nearly wipe out Solomon's internal defense forces in the Battle of Solomon. Gihren did so and wiped out nearly half of the Federation fleet. Thankfully, the Federation's mobile suit carrier, the White Base, was out of the way, and her crew, along with a battered but still powerful Federation fleet, devised A Plan that would take out A Boa Qu with one blow; a head-on assault with the ships and mobile suits. The lead mobile suits were led by RX-78-2 Gundam pilot Ensign Amuro Ray, Lieutenant Yu Kajima, and Commander South Burning. The battle went on for hours on end, until finally, Char Aznable;a.k.a. Casval Rem Dekiun, got a bazooka, and did what he had been dreaming for after so many years; he aimed that bazooka, and with one shot, blew off the head of Kycilia Zabi, the last surviving commander of Zeon. Her ship came crashing down into the bay and A Boa Qu started to blow up from the inside. The White Base was destroyed unfortunately, but her crew survived, thanks to Amuro's Newtype messages, and Amuro survived himself, as did Kajima and Burning. The day after the battle, on January 1st, Universal Century 0080, the Pegasus-class assault carrier SCVA-72 Throughbred, and her crew received the message that was spread throughout both sides; the peace treaty had been signed. Finally, the One Year War was over.
