Bangabandhu Innovation Grant

Bangabandhu Innovation Grant (BIG) is a government-backed startup grant programme in Bangladesh administered under the Innovation Design and Entrepreneurship Academy (iDEA) project of the Information and Communication Technology Division. The programme provides financial grants and development support to innovation-driven startups and technology-based entrepreneurial ventures.

History

The Bangabandhu Innovation Grant programme was introduced as part of initiatives aimed at supporting the development of Bangladesh's startup ecosystem and promoting innovation-driven entrepreneurship. The programme operates under the Innovation Design and Entrepreneurship Academy (iDEA), an initiative of the Government of Bangladesh's Information and Communication Technology Division.

Applications are invited from startups in Bangladesh and abroad, and selected ventures receive financial grants through a competitive evaluation process.

2023 EDition

The 2023 edition of the programme was launched in March 2023, with participation from startups based in Bangladesh and other countries.

During the 2023 programme, CardiCare, a healthcare technology innovation developed by a team from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, was among the grant recipients.

Structure

Participating startups are evaluated through multiple stages of assessment. Selected ventures receive financial grants, mentorship, and opportunities to connect with investors and industry stakeholders.
