Awties, ("Oties") noun

The Awties is a slang term used for the years between 00-09 (e.g. 1900-1909) in which there is no well defined English participle for the years before teens, scholars have been known to use Latin and Greek roots to describe this area of time, however no English word has been substantially recognized until the "Awties" or "Oties" have become popular in regions throughout the United States and Canada.

The origin is believed to have derived from war veterans from the Fighting Forties would recall their childhood from "Ot-5, or Ot-6" meaning 1905 or 1906. This became GeneRally forgotten until the turn of the century has created a gap to fill with a word to suit for 2000-2009.

Example of Usage: The Awties, The Teens, The Twenties, And so on.
