Arif Soni

Arif Mehmood Soni (born February 20, 1953) is an honorary ambassador to the Embassy of Albania. Soni is currently a businessman based in New York. His affiliations, asides from PTI (Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf), include Islamabad Democratic Business Community. He publicly and proudly supports his good friend, politician Imran Khan,a former cricket player who played for the Pakistani cricket team, who was inducted in the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame in 2010. In 1996, Khan formed a political party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, with Soni and a group of others.

Personal life

Soni was born in Sialkot, Pakistan. He was born to Allah-Rakha Soni, a successful businessman and a politician. The Soni family is of Punjabi origin. He has 9 siblings who live in Sialkot and Lahore, Pakistan. One of his younger brother lives with him in New York. He has 3 children. He is an adherent of Islam.

Business life

Soni is the founder and owner of a construction business in Long Island, New York, which he runs with his younger brother. In Pakistan, Soni has founded and owns two other businesses. They are located in Islamabad and Sialkot.

Political views

Soni is an avid supporter of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, a political party based in Lahore, Pakistan, he is also among the co-founders of the party which was founded by Imran Khan, whom he first met at a cricket match between Pakistan and West Indies in Sialkot. After this first meeting, the pair cooperated professionally. After this, along with a few other prominent people, Khan formed PTI in 1996. Soni actively donates and helps PTI on National and International levels.
