Annie Pokorny

Annie Pokorny (born November 16, 1992) is an American Cross-Country Skier, currently a member of the Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation’s Gold Team.

Before finding her way to the Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation, Pokorny was a student at Middlebury College in Vermont. While attending and training at Middlebury College, Pokorny trained under Andrew Gardner and Patty Ross. A notable race for Pokorny freshman year would be placing 9th in the 15K classic mass start at the 2012 NCAA Championships. Throughout her sophomore year at Middlebury, she was able to accomplish a lot on the mountain. One notable race for Pokorny was the 10K freestyle at U.S. nationals, a race that she finished fourth in, a notable improvement from 47th place, which she placed in the same event the year prior.

All of her performances at nationals was enough to earn her spot on the U23 Team, which would take her to her first international competition. That competition would be the U23 World Championships in Liberec, Czech Republic where Pokorny was able to place in the top 30 in two races at her first international competition.

Upon her return to the United States, Pokorny won her first Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association (EISA) in Stowe, VT, continuing on to place on five podiums, helping her qualify for the NCAAs second-ranked eastern skier.

Pokorny decided to cut her collegiate skiing career at Middlebury short and go to professional skiing. She would go on to join the Stratton Mountain School T2 Team, training alongside notable skiers; Jessie Diggins, Erika Flowers, and Sophie Caldwell.

In 2015 Annie Pokorny was a Travel & Training Fund Grant Recipient from The Women’s Sports Foundation. With the funds, that she was awarded Annie has been continuously training so that she would earn a spot on the US Ski Team for the 2018 Olympic Games.
