Anna Conda (drag queen)

Born Glendon Carl Hyde in 1967 he was adopted by Marylee and Weston Hyde in Pittsburgh Pa.

Anna Conda (aka Glendon Hyde) is a San Francisco-baed American drag queen performer, personality, emcee, journalist and human rights & gay activist. She won Miss Trannyshack in 2004. With her weekly night at The Cinch named Charlie Horse, Anna Conda became a weekly fixture for San Francisco nightlife. She also started the first drag night at the Eagle tavern called Herr-A-Chick. Sainted by the sisters of perpetual Indulgence in the spring of 2009 to become Saint Anaconditional Love : Protector of the Polk purveyor of the Apunkalypse.

Anna Conda got her start in New York City. It was Wigstock; legendary outdoor drag festival in New York; in 1992 that the drag queen Anna Conda first appeared in the crowd of thousands vowing to be on stage next year; and she was. Her first show was at Boy Bar in the East Village later that year. She went on to perform at Jackie 60, Channel 69 and Black Lips performance Art Cult at the Pyramid Club, Lime Light, Roxy,Crow Bar at Mona Foots Star Search; of which she was the first winner; and many other nightclubs and bars across the country and in Canada. During this time she strengthened her community involvement and work with HIV and AIDS organizations as well as Gay and civil rights organizations in New York City. In 1997 she moved to San Francisco.

Anna Conda, always an out spoken advocate and community leader, gained attention for her political efforts in the wake of California passing Prop.8, which would effectively ban gay marriage. Anna entrance into politics gained further with her efforts against the gentification of Polk Street in San Francisco by staging "Take Back the Polk" marches. She has worked with Marriage Equality California, AIDS Housing Alliance, Community Housing Partnership and Restore Equality.

In 2009, Anna Conda announced intentions to run for the District 6 seat of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors. In 2010, Anna Conda qualified for Public Financing towards her campaign for office.
